Taryn started grooming in 2000. She left her career in Child care to pursue a career with her first love - Dogs. Gaining a job at Northside Pet Salon, Manly, Sydney, Australia, Taryn was able to learn the art of Dog grooming.


In 2003 she started her own business - Taryn's Canine Services in the same area, offering a complete canines service to her customers including Dog walking, Training, grooming, house sitting and pet transport. Although highly popular and the business growing - Taryn had itchy feet to head to the country


In 2005 Taryn moved to QLD and started working as a vet nurse at Herriot House Vet Surgery, Toowoomba. Of course, she continued to groom with them as well as doing surgery, reception and general nursing duties. Word got out and soon Taryn was offering mobile grooming before and after her vet nursing shifts.


With the Birth of her first son, Dylan in 2011, Taryn left The vets and started her own business again - offering the grooming and Dog Training to the community of Toowoomba. In 2012, She was able to lease a space in the new Westbrook Vet surgery, Westbrook and CREATIVE CANINES was born. 


In 2016 Derek, her husband joined the Creative Canines team as the business was growing. By August 2016 they bought their Pittsworth salon which Derek runs while Taryn continues to Groom in the mobile unit and at Westbrook.


2012 was a huge year with Creative Canines grooming business growing rapidly &  Taryn starting to compete in grooming competitions and experiment with Creative colouring of dogs. Taryn is constantly keeping up to date with new techniques, equipment and grooming procedures in the industry to offer the best service for your dog!

2013 Taryn expanded her grooming competitions to competing in Sydney at Groomquest - She won 1st in CAT CREATIVE - Australia's first ever feline competition, 2nd in salon freestyle and did very well in the Dog Creative Competition. Taryn also Competed again at the Brisbane Royal and Placed 1st in the Gundog section with a  English Cocker Spaniel and Best in Group!!!

2015 saw Taryn Win the Creative Competition at Groomex, Gold Coast, where she turned her own poodle Tigga into a Ninja Turtle!! This was the proudest moment for Creative Canines!



CREATIVE CANINE expanded in 2014 when Taryn was able to achieve her business plan with the purchuse and outfit for a MOBILE GROOMING SALON. 

This Service quickly became very popluar and within 4 months was completely booked out!! IT is a state of the Art grooming salon on wheels and offers all the same wonderful grooming as the salon offers.


In 2016 Derek, her husband joined the Creative Canines team as the business was growing. By August 2016 they bought their Pittsworth salon which Derek runs while Taryn continues to Groom in the mobile unit and at Westbrook.

In July 2018, Taryn and Derek had to make the hard decision to close their westbrook salon, Taryn moved to full time at pittsworth and Derek took over the mobile. 


When Taryn and Derek arent  creating perfectly groomed dogs, They are running the ARABANOO WORKING KELPIE STUD with her husband,Derek and son Dylan. Together they breed and train the kelpies and compete in Sheep and cattle trials around QLD and NSW. They also breed rare breeds of ducks and pigs. Derek and Dylan both help in the businesses - with Dylan being an apprentice groomer and trainer and Derek also helping with the training of dogs. Taryn believes a successful business cant run well without family support and you will often find Derek, Dylan or her niece and nephew helping out in the salons as well.


Taryn completed her Cert 3 in Dog Behaviour and Training with the National Dog Trainers Federation in 2012 and achieved her Certificate 4 in Professional Pet Stylist in 2016. This is the highest recognised certificate in Australia for dog grooming.
